Goose Factoid #5:
When a goose gets sick or wounded, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.
And there we have it. Hope you enjoyed them.
Goose Factoid #4:
The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up with their speed.
Goose Factoid #3:
When the lead goose tires, it rotates back in to the formation and another goose flies to the point position.
Goose Factoid #2:
When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.
Geese
I found a sheet of paper earlier entitled ‘Lessons from geese’. It consists of 5 facts about geese, followed by the relevant ‘lessons’ we can learn from them. The actual lessons are rubbish; some sort of team-building crap, but the facts are reasonably amusing / cool.
